What if thrift groups felt less like chores and more like Duolingo?
Group saving (like ajo or thrift) sounds great, until people forget deadlines, payments get messy, and no one really knows where the money is.
Most of the existing “solutions” are glorified spreadsheets or group chats. So we asked:
What if saving as a group felt more like a game and less like a chore?
Research & Insights
People don’t just need a digital wallet they need a shared space with structure, motivation, and visibility.
To understand the real problems behind group savings, we surveyed 10+ people actively participating in informal thrift groups (ajo/esusu) ranging from office colleagues to community circles.
Here’s a summary of the responses i got;
"We forget who paid and who didn’t."
Currently, there is a lack of organized record-keeping and tracking systems in place.
"There's no visibility into how much we’ve saved as a group."
Currently, there is no shared dashboard or progress indicator available for users to track their progress effectively.
"We’re using multiple apps just to manage this."
Apps like WhatsApp, spreadsheets, and mobile banking apps are all spread out across different platforms, making it challenging to keep everything organized.
What i Came up with
Creda helps people form savings groups, set shared goals, track contributions, and most importantly stay consistent. This can be achieved through;
Group Savings
Create a goal, invite friends, and start saving together. Simple.
Leaderboard
Track who’s contributing fastest, yes, we made saving competitive (in a good way).
Auto Save & Smart Reminders
For those “I forgot” moments, we got you. No more “I thought I paid last week?” drama.Exchange Support
Built-in P2P currency swap for international or multi-currency groups.
Choose Your Saving Goal
Start by selecting what you and your group are saving for: a car, travel fund, home renovation, tuition, or something custom.
Set the Target & End Date
Enter the amount you want to save and pick a deadline. This helps keep everyone aligned and accountable.
Add Participants
Invite friends by selecting from your contact list or sharing a group link. You can skip and save alone too.
Track Contributions Together
Once the group is live, Creda does the rest reminding members, showing progress, and updating the leaderboard as contributions roll in.
